Abstract
OBJECTIVE To conduct retrospective analysis of therapeutic effects osteoporotic on the fractures of distal radius treated by small splint and external fixator so as to subjectively evaluate their efficacies.METHODS 90 clinical cases were osteoporotic fractures of distal radius coming from Jiangsu Province Hospital of TCM from 2009 to 2010.Functions of wrist joint were evaluated by Jakim Scores System covering subjective indexes, objective indexes and imaging scores.RESULTS The results indicated that statistically significant differences were observed between two approaches with respect to the loss of palmar tilt degrees and the length of radial shortening. No differences with regard to subjective indexes, objective indexes and imaging scores were noted.CONCLUSION Both small splint fixation and external fixator have effective treatments for osteoporotic fractures of distal radius, and the clinical results of two approaches are good.Compared with external fixator, small splint fixation is better due to less palmar tilt degrees loss, but external fixator is better due to radial length maintenance.
