Flat Adenocarcinomas Of The Colorectum: A Morphologic Analysis Of 22 Cases

one patient with a single p53 nmtation in serum and three with single mutations (p53; p53; K-ras) in plasma, in addition, two had single umtations (p53; APC) and one had two mutations (APC, K-ras) in both serum and plasma.The two patients in whom no mutations were detected in blc~d had single mutations (p53; APC) identified in their primary tumor analyzed with this assay panel.Conclusion: This pilot study has demonstrated tile ability" to delect mntations in blood of genes involved in colon cancer in 7 of 9 patients with reetastatlc disease This novel technique, using our autornated multi-targeted DNA assay panel may provide an important tool in the management of all patients with colorectal cancer.Further studies need to done to determine its value in assessing response to therapy,, determining prognosis, and monitoring tor tumor recurrence.
