Comparative study of internal anterior chamber diameter measured by a Visante OCT and horizontal corneal diameter measured by an IOL Master

Objective To compare internal anterior chamber(AC) diameter measured with a Visante OCT to horizontal corneal diameter(white-to-white,WTW distance) measured with an IOL Master.Methods Internal AC diameter and WTW distance were measured in 84 eyes of 42 patients using the Visante OCT(Carl Zeiss Meditec) and the IOL Master(Carl Zeiss Meditec).Statistical analysis was performed using the Bland-Altman method and correlation analysis.Results The mean internal AC diameter was(12.11±0.33)mm with the Vistante OCT;the mean WTW distance was(11.89±0.31)mm with the IOL Master.The internal AC diameter was significantly larger than the WTW distance.There was a 95% level of confidence for the difference in interval width(-0.16 mm,0.59 mm).There was a positive correlation between the internal AC diameter and the WTW distance(r=0.82,P0.05).Conclusion The internal AC diameter measured by the Visante OCT is larger than the horizontal corneal diameter measured by the IOL Master.The Visante OCT is easy to handle and shows good repeatability.The Visante OCT is a useful instrument to aid in phakic IOL implantation.
