Rodent population and its change regulation in Guanling county from 1984 to 2009.

The rodent damage of residential area,rice field and dry land habitat types in Guanling county from 1984 to 2009 was analyzed to know its species and dominant species,its change regulation of population quantity for providing a scientific basis to kill rodents. The results showed that there were seven species mainly in Guanling county,and Rattus tanezumi and Rattus norvegicus were the dominant species in residential area and farmland area. Because these species accounted for 99.01% and 88.89% of total rodent number in residential area and farmland area respectively,these species were the main rodent species to be monitored and controlled. The capture rate in residential area and farmland area was 12.07% and 2.76% respectively. The population quantity peak of mixed rodent species in residential area was between May and July and the annual average captured rate was above 13%. The population quantity peak of mixed rodent species in farmland area was between April and September and the annual average captured rate was above 3%. The key controlling period was between April and May.
