Simulation Of Urine Flow Through The Male Lower Urinary Tract

Regarding the diagnosis and the improvement of surgical working methods, for the urologist the understanding of urine flow in the urinary organs is of great importance. In this context, the flow conditions in the male urethra under the influence of the age-related enlargement of the prostate are of special interest. An enlarged prostate can lead to urethral constriction and thus impede the urine voiding. To provide a better understanding of the flow through the male lower urinary tract, also under pathological conditions, flow simulations were performed with the CFD-code Star-CD.
