Vaincre la glycation par des approches thérapeutiques

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) are pivotal contributors for diabetic vascular complications. Through the binding to the receptor for AGEs (RAGE), they induce endothelial dysfunction, an early step of diabetic complications such as retinopathy or nephropathy. Several new agents have been described that have the potential to delay the progression of diabetic alterations and minimize the burden of AGEs. These include inhibitors and breakers of AGEs, RAGE antagonists, and inhibitors of RAGE-related cell perturbations. This review addresses these promising new therapeutic agents for delaying the progression of diabetic vascular complications.
