Abstract
The precursor Ni0.8Co0.2(OH)2 was prepared by the concurrent co-precipitation method,then cathode material LiNi0.8Co0.2O2 for Li-ion batteries was synthesized by high temperature solid state reaction method.Effects of sintering temperature on the structures,surface morphology and electrochemical properties of the prepared material were investigated through TG analysis,XRD,SEM and constant current charge/discharge test,etc.The results demonstrate that the LiNi0.8Co0.2O2 sintered firstly at 700 ℃,secondly at 750 ℃ in air atmosphere in tubular furnace possesses a good hexagonal α-NaFeO2 layer structure,at the 0.5C rate and in the 2.7–4.3 V,its initial discharge specific capacity is 153.0 mAh/g,and the capacity retention reaches 98.5% after 20 cycles.
