A volatile erbium(III)/β-diketonate compound symmetrically bridged by tetraglyme

The erbium(III) beta-diketonate [{Er(tmhd)(3)}(2)(tetraglyme)] [tmhd-H = 2,2,6,6-tetramethylheptane-3,5-dione and tetraglyme = CH3O(CH2CH2O)(4)CH3] was obtained as crystals from the reaction of hydrated "Er(tmhd)(3)" and half an equivalent of tetraglyme in hexane. The X-ray crystal structure of [{Er(tmhd)(3)}(2)(tetraglyme)] reveals two Er(tmhd)(3) moieties linked by a bridging tetraglyme molecule.
