Convenient Synthesis of Mixed Ferrocenes

The deprotonated form of [(fluorene)FeCp]PF6 functions as an efficient cyclopentadienyliron (CpFe) transfer reagent to other cyclopentadienyls (Cp') to give mixed ferrocenes (CpFeCp'). By using this method, many new mixed ferrocenes have been prepared, and one of the mixed ferrocenes has been used to make bi- and trimetallic compounds.
