Abstract
Atriopeptins are recently described peptides in cardiac atria which are natriuretic and vasodilatory. We have found that a 30 min infusion of Atriopeptin III (AP III), a 24 amino acid peptide, produces a 9-fold increase in the fractional excretion of sodium (FENa), with initial increases in both glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and renal plasma flow.
