摘要
Modem soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) production in the Brazilian Savannahs is the result of crop adaptation to the low latitudes of the tropics. Grain yield in this region is higher than in the traditional, high latitude zones of cultivation. Late maturity, however, predominates among the recommended cultivars; this implies limited opportunity for suitable production system planning. The 'BRS Carla' cultivar is an alternative to supply the growers' demand. Besides belonging to same maturity group of 'BR-40' (Itiquira), its high yielding and its plant height are adequate to combined harvest, and it is resistant to the main diseases, especially to the stem canker (Diaporthe phaseolorum f.sp. meridionalis).
