Observation of binary hyperon production reactions in antiproton annihilation on nuclei at low energy

Hyperon production mechanisms in antiproton annihilation on nuclei at low energy were investigated by using 7.8·105 inelastic pXe annihilations events at Pp < 0.9 GeV/c. The full kinematical reconstruction of the binary hyperon production reactions KN→Λπ0 and ωp→K+Λ was performed and it was found that K- and ω-mesons are the main sources of hyperon production. The ωp→K+Λ cross section was estimated and Λ-hyperon polarization in the ωp→K+Λ reaction was studied.
