Abstract
The quality of surfaces produced by various metal-machining processes is of great importance. Electrochemical machining (ECM) is one of the modern machining processes which is now used widely in numerous applications. Modern processes have been developed to deal with advanced new materials, which cannot be machined by conventional processes. In this work, the integrity of EC machined surfaces is investigated when the process parameters are changed. Conclusions are based on the effect of changing the process variables on the resulting plasticity index (ϕ), as a meaningful indication of the surface integrity of electrochemically (EC) machined surfaces. The findings of this work highlight important aspects of the surface integrity of EC machined surfaces.
