Multiple PIs: A Win for Imagers and Team Science

The Roadmap for Medical Research of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is one way the future of the institutes will be defined. There are 3 themes to the Roadmap project: “New Pathways to Discovery,” “Research Teams of the Future,” and “Re-Engineering the Clinical Research Enterprise” [ 1 National Institutes of Health. The need to recognize team members is long-standing and predates the Roadmap process; however, several important factors contribute to the present need for change.
