Abstract
Introduction: Pancreatic cancer has poor resecability rate and even poorer survival. Recently we experienced rise in resecability rate. We still lack the data from Hungary upon the actual survival. Patients: Between January 2007 and February 2010 we operated 44 patients for pancreatic cancer. 2 patients died after surgery and we lost other 2 for follow up. From the 40 patients we followed 25 had resection with curative intent. In 15 patients we just performed palliation. After surgery patients were considered for adjuvant or palliative chemotherapy (mostly gemcitabine monotherapy). The mean follow up was 14 months. The mean follow up time was 15 months for resection and 10 months for palliation. At the end of the follow up time 18 patients (72%) are alive in the resection group whereas 8 patients (53%) are alive in the palliation group.
