Abstract
The present paper deals with the morphology of skeleton in spotfin bigeye Priacanthus tayenus,reference with Osteichthyes.The neurocranium,pectoral girdle,pharyngeal bone in spotfin bigeye are shown to be similar to those in Percoide fishes in morphology.There are 6 suborbital bones,including developed lachrymal,with suborbital shelf but without supraorbital bone.The supraethmoid,parietal and supraoccipital are larger.There are many small teeth in vomer,premaxilla,dentary,and the second,third,and fourth pharyngobranchial and pharyngeal bones.The supraposttemporal is found,and the pelvic girdles are fused in their base.
