This paper develops the notion that sustainable development is a process based on a complex set of organizationa l and social projects that are based on continuous learning, action and negotiated change. Process of this kind are brought about through networks that span business organizations and other stakeholders in soc iety. The paper presents a case study of a Canadian company that is acknowledged as a leader in the field of environmental management. It outlines how the company responded to the agenda of environmental management and the demands for more sustainable practices.
