Mapping German Word Senses onto a Core Ontology to Create a Multilingual Language Engineering Resource

A study is presented in which experimental sub- jects map German word senses onto an English ontology by completing questionnaires over the World Wide Web. The work is intended to es- tablish whether such an approach could be used to create a multilingual concept ontology. While the methods need further refinement, the results of this study, taken together with those of two previous ones, suggest that the method is viable.
