A Review of Field Measurement on Wind Erosion

Wind erosion researches need field measurement to ascertain erosion process,especially for sand flux and distribution of eroded soil particles.Due to the complexity of wind-sand flow,various methods have been used in the field study for years.Methods can be categorized into wind erosion loss monitoring and sand transport flux monitoring,widely applying in case of different measurement principles and study objectives.Wind erosion loss monitoring methods may apply wind erosion pan,traps,wind erosion collector,wind erosion cycle,tracers,remote sensing and erosion pin for instance.Sand transport flux monitoring may involve the use of samplers and sensors such as MWAC,BSNE,SENSIT,WITSEG and so on.The reliability,viability as well as advantages and shortcomings of different methods are assessed,and guidelines for researchers about how to choose a best solution are offered.Furthermore,the possible trends of ongoing measurement innovations are discussed.The study would be greatly helpful for field measurements and high-efficiency sampler selection,what's more,for improving the accuracy of wind erosion observation and credibility of the results.
