Prise en charge des urgences chirurgicales pédiatriques en milieu hospitalier non spécialisé

To assess the perception of patients undergoing cataract surgery under topical anesthesia in an open-space operating hall.The study was set in the department of ophthalmology, Cochin Paris Descartes University Hospital, in a newly built open-space operating hall dedicated to ophthalmic surgery. It was a prospective study of consecutive patients undergoing cataract surgery by 11 surgeons. Our population study comprised 250 patients operated in an open-space operating hall with 3 surgical areas. Only first-eye standard cataract surgeries performed under topical anesthesia were included. Responses to a face-to-face questionnaire administered by a single interviewer to patients before their discharge on the day of their surgery were analyzed.Fifty-two patients (21%) knew beforehand that their procedure would take place in an open-space operating hall, 118 (47%) realized that they were in such an environment on the occasion of their surgery and 80 (32%) did not notice. Conversations and noises unrelated to their own surgeries were overheard respectively by 15 (6%) and 37 (15%) patients. Of the 250 patients, 237 (95%) did not report any discomfort associated with the fact that their procedure had been performed in an open-space operating hall.Cataract surgery performed in an open-space setting did not seem to affect the patients’ comfort during the procedure.Évaluer la perception des patients qui subissent une opération de la cataracte sous anesthésie topique dans un bloc opératoire en espace ouvert.L’étude a été réalisée dans le département d’ophtalmologie de l’hôpital universitaire Cochin Paris Descartes, dans un nouveau bloc opératoire en espace ouvert dédié à la chirurgie ophtalmique. Il s’agissait d’une étude prospective sur des patients consécutifs ayant subi une opération de la cataracte par 11 chirurgiens. Notre étude de population comprenait 250 patients opérés dans un bloc opératoire en espace ouvert avec 3 zones chirurgicales. Seules les chirurgies de la cataracte standard au premier œil pratiquées sous anesthésie topique ont été incluses. Les réponses à un questionnaire en face-à-face réalisé par un seul enquêteur aux patients avant leur sortie le jour de leur opération ont été analysées.Cinquante-deux patients (21 %) savaient à l’avance que leur intervention aurait lieu dans un bloc opératoire en espace ouvert, 118 (47 %) ont réalisé qu’ils se trouvaient dans un tel environnement à l’occasion de leur opération et 80 (32 %) ne l’ont pas remarqué. Des conversations et des bruits sans rapport avec leur propre opération ont été entendus respectivement par 15 (6 %) et 37 (15 %) patients. Sur les 250 patients, 237 (95 %) n’ont pas signalé de gêne liée au fait que leur intervention avait été réalisée dans une salle d’opération en espace ouvert.La chirurgie de la cataracte pratiquée dans un espace ouvert ne semble pas avoir affecté le confort des patients pendant l’intervention.
