Abstract
Summary Several studies have indicated, that non‐genetic risk as well as protective factors, which appeared to be modifiable, are influencing the “atopic march”. Based on these findings intervention studies in experimental animals have led to encouraging results. It will be the challenge of the future to develop save and effective strategies for preventive intervention in early infancy in order to avoid allergic sensitization reduce the incidence of atopic manifestation in early childhood.
