Abstract
Changes in the maturational gonadotropin (c‐GtH) levels during 24 h in carp males, as a result of the presence or absence of other carp specimens, were investigated. Carp males were cannulated to ventral aortae. Gonadotropin levels were radioimmunologically determined. It has been found that in males two peaks of c‐GtH occur strictly in 2 periods during the day in which spawning takes place under natural conditions (early morning and late evening). Being in contact or not with another male or hypophysed female did not affect circadian changes in c‐GtH levels in investigated males.
