Abstract
Pulmonary embolism (PE) continues to be a major cause of mortality and is a common concern in the emergency department (ED) patient population. It is well known that the majority of pulmonary emboli originate from clots within the lower extremity deep venous system. Our objective was to determine the incidence of lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in ED patients undergoing diagnostic workup for PE.
