Hydrothermal Synthesis of SnO_2 Crystals with High Fill Factor

In this paper,rutile SnO2 crystals which were more than 20 microns in scale,were synthesized by hydrothermal method with SnO2 as precursor,3 mol/L KOH as mineralizer.When the reaction time was 24 h at 430 ℃ and the fill factor was 60%,the scale of the rutile SnO2 crystals was more than 20 μm,while the fill factor was 40%,the scale of the crystals was only 200 nm.The crystals were described by X-Ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscope(SEM).The result showed that SnO2 exhibited strong dissoluvability and formed better quality crystals after dissolving under the action of high temperature and mineralizer.High pressure which was generated by high degree of filling made SnO2 dissolve fully and recrystallize,then formed micron-scale crystal.It also illustrated that large scale SnO2 single crystal could be obtained by hydrothermal method.
