Abstract
lA novel supercritical compressed carbon dioxide energy storage system coupled with concentrating solar thermal storage is proposed.lThe split compression process is added in the proposed system, and the economic analysis is also proceeded between the optimal split cycle and simple cycle.lAll heat exchanger models in the novel energy storage system have been refined by printed circuit heat exchangers.lThe energy storage efficiency of the novel energy storage system is expected to exceed 70%, while the levelized cost of energy and dynamic payback period are expected to drop to 0.084$/(kW*h) and 13 years.
