Abstract
Gentiana asclepiadea L. is a flowering plant occurring in Poland natural habitats in the Carpathian and Sudety Mountains. It is believed to be an endangered species due to progressing synantropization and disappearance if its natural stations. Studies on the gentian occurrence and variance conducted in 1997-2003 in selected areas of the Polish Carpathians showed that this threat can be quite real, especially as regards the white flower forms, Gentiana asclepiadea f. аlbiflora. The obtained results have been displayed together to compare flower colours and the frequency of plant occurrence in individual ranges of the Bieszczady and Beskidy Mountains.
