Morphology and Structure of Small CuAu Particles

摘要
Well-defined small particles of CuAu were prepared by an ultra high vacuum deposition system under well-controlled conditions. Their morphology and structure were investigated in detail by means of transmission electron microscopy. The particles had a tetragonal shape containing seven domains. The inner and largest domain comprised a disordered phase and the outer shell an ordered phase with three orientations characteristic of CuAu I. It is suggested that a peculiar structure exists at the interface of two adjacent ordered domains.
