Spontaneous Improvement in Severity of Erythroblastosis With Advancing Parity

Summary: Two cases of severe rhesus isoimmunization with spontaneous improvement in severity of erythroblastosis with advancing parity are presented. The infant of one of these patients had a cord haemoglobin value of 4.6 g per 100 ml and required abdominal paracentesis, 9 exchange transfusions, and survived 3 cardiorespiratory arrests to develop into a normal child. In a subsequent pregnancy this patient was delivered of an infant whose cord blood was Coombs positive and had a cord haemoglobin value of 15.0 g per 100 ml; the infant survived without an exchange transfusion.
