Survey of infants with rotavirus diarrhea in Changchun City in 2007

Objective To find out the situation of infants with rotavirus diarrhea in Changchun City in 2007.Methods 399 stool specimens selected from the infants of Changchun Children's Hospital were tested by the method of PAGE and/or ELISA and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) in 2007.And the clinical data of it were studied.Results The detection rate of infantile diarrhea cause of rotavirus was 58.64%.The average age of rotavirus infection is 11.12 months.96.57% infants of it is no more than 2 years old.In 2007,rotavirus epidemic type in Changchun was G3(68.8%),followed by it was the G11-type(2.99%),then G1(2.16%),G13(2.16%) and G31(0.85%),no type was 23.1%.Rotavirus infection rates rose in January and February.When in October the number of the patients of rotavirus rose again.And when to December 2007 it reached a peak.There are 2 peaks in 2007.Conclusion Rotavirus is the main pathogen of infantile diarrhea in Changchun City in 2007.
