Scattering of polarized 6Li from 26Mg at 44MeV
Nuclear Physics A(1989)
Abstract
Angular distributions of the differential cross sections and of 1st and 2nd-rank tensor analyzing powers have been measured for elastic and inelastic (26MgI.exc) scattering of polarized 6Li on 26Mg at E Li = 44 MeV. A coupled-channel analysis of the experimental data with cluster-folding model potentials has been performed. The influence of the projectile and target excitation on the elastic scattering process was investigated. First-rank tensor analyzing powers for elastic scattering arise mainly from coupling to the first excited state of the projectile even though the static (folding) spin-orbit interaction is of some importance. The 2nd-rank tensor analyzing powers are generated by reorientation of the 6Li ground state. The role of the target nucleus deformation in the investigated processes is also discussed.
