Overview of Field Trials of Genetically Modified Potato in Canada

A survey on Canada database about field trials of genetically modified potato(Solanum tuberosum L.)during 1990～2010 was conducted in order to reveal the characteristcs and trend in research and development of genetically modified potato.Results indicated that totally 593 field trials had been undertaken in 9 states during the last 20 years,involving 6 novel traits and 3 companies or institutions,contributed to 6.8% of all field trials of genetically modified crops.In addition,the influencing factors and trend of genetically modified potato,were also analyzed in order to provide reference to the development of potato in China.
