Convenient preparation of chiral ethylenediamine linked to d-glucose

A useful preparation of an ethylenediamine derivative linked to D-glucose, 2,3-diaminopropyl beta-D-glucopyranoside, has been described. The optically pure compound was obtained conveniently via recrystallization of the diastereomeric mixture of the diazido precursor. The stereochemistry of the ethylenediamino compound was elucidated by X-ray crystallography. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
