Adenosquamous carcinoma of the stomach: Two case reports

Primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the stomach is extremely rare and accounts for less than 1% of gastric malignancies. It is particularly aggressive and generally results in a poorer outcome than other carcinomas. Microscopically, it consists of a mixture of two distinct components: adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. We present two cases of gastric adenosquamous carcinoma in two female patients, aged 63 and 70, and discuss the clinical and pathological characteristics of this unusual tumour.
