Experimental Study on Static Rigidity of Steel Rope Isolator of Square Assembly

A new type of steel rope isolator of square assembly is studied in this paper with 4 strip clips clamping 16 common zinc-coated steel ropes to ensure the symmetry of horizontal rigidity in structural form.Several vertically static cycle loading tests were carried out with Origin 7.0 for the analysis of the testing data and the plot of static characteristic curves of the isolator,which were compared with those of the strip-shape stainless steel rope isolator and the drum-shape steel rope isolator.The results show that the new isolator not only has excellent performance of higher initial rigidity,better softening characteristics,larger frictional damping and higher cost-performance ratio,but also has conquered the disadvantage of high price,unequal rigidity in horizontal direction of the strip-shape stainless steel rope isolator and the complicated machining of the drum-shape isolator.The new isolator will have good application in the isolation of blast ground shock and vibration in future protective engineering.
