Energy loss measurements for charged particles and a new approach based on the experimental results

We report a new approach to the energy loss process of fast charged particles in gases. This approach gives an analytical formula for the most probable energy loss value. In our approach, common variables are used and the concept of the “detectable volume” is introduced. Experimental results with fast electrons in an INS-ES test beam are also shown and compared with the calculation of the approach. The calculation shows good agreement with the experiments.
