Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship of pulse pressure index(PPI) with serum cystatin C(CysC) and urine trace protein in elderly hypertensive patients,in order to provide clinical evidence for early prevention and treatment of elderly patients with hypertensive kidney damage. Methods 139 cases of elderly hypertensive patients were divided into 3 groups according to PPI:group A(46 cases) with a PPI<0.40,group B(49 cases) with a PPI 0.40-0.55,group C(44 cases)with a PPI>0.55.Serum urea nitrogen, creatinine, cystatin C,urine trace protein were detected in all patients. Results There were significant differences in the levels of blood CysC,urine mAlb,urine IgG,urine NAG enzyme and urine α1-MG betweent group C and group A(P<0.01).Compared with group B,the excretion of urine mAlb and NAG enzyme, the levels of urine IgG and urine α1-MG of group C were increased significantly(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Compared with group A,the excretion of urine mAlb,the levels of urine IgG and urine α1-MG of group B were increased significantly(P<0.01).There was positive correlation of PPI with the levels of blood CysC,urine trace protein in elderly hypertensive patients(P<0.05).Conclusions Early kidney damage in elderly hypertensive patients is related to PPI.PPI is an important risk factor for early kidney damage in elderly hypertensive patients.
