Diagnosis and treatment of primary retroperitoneal tumor in elderly patients:A report of 73 cases

Objective To explore the diagnosis and treatment of primary retroperitoneal tumor(PRPT)in elderly patients.Methods The clinical data of 73 elderly patients with PRPT were analyzed retrospectively.Results The diagnostic accurate rate of CT scan and MRI for the PRPT was 100%.There were 12 cases of benign tumors and 61 cases of malignant tumors respectively.Forty-nine cases received total resection and 17 cases of recurrent PRPT underwent complete resection.In this group there was no death.Conclusion CT scan and MRI are the most important examinations for the diagnosis of PRPT.Senility is not the contraindication for operation.Re-operation can be done for recurrent PRPT.
