Fluorinated Tetraphenylporphyrins As Cocrystallizing Agents For C-60 And C-70

Four new cocrystals of fallerenes C-60 and C-70 have been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography, C-60 center dot 1.5H(2)F(20)TPP center dot 6benzene, C-70 center dot H2F20TPP center dot 8benzene, C-60 center dot NiF20TPP center dot 8benzene, and C-70 center dot ClFe(F20TPP) (F20TPP = 5,10,15,20-pentafluorophenylporphyrin). These structures reveal a marked encapsulation of the fullerene molecule by both the porphyrin and numerous C-F center dot center dot center dot C(fullerene) interactions.
