摘要
in this review we will start out with an effort to describe the present understanding of the dominant mechanisms for electron transfer in collisions between slow highly charged ions and atoms. We then follow up with an account of the most prominent phenomena in highly charged ion-surface collisions and emphasize the similarities and differences between the collision scenarios for atomic and surface targets Finally we will discuss recent advances in the much less mature field of highly charged ion-cluster (mainly C-60) collisions.
