Lethal micromelic facial bones sclerosis dysplasia.

This stillborn female, the third born of unrelated parents, was delivered by spontaneous vaginal delivery at 31 weeks gestation after a pregnancy complicated by polyhydramnios. The birth weight was 2750 g and the length 42 cm. Severe hydrops foetalis was present (Fig. 1). The mother had been treated for insulin dependent diabetes mellitus for the past 10 years. The first child, delivered at 31 weeks of gestation, died aged 7 days with a diagnosis of diabetic fetopathy. There was neither clinical, radiographic nor anatomo-pathological evidence of bone dysplasia. The second child was normal. The father had no history of bone dysplasia.
