Synthesis of flake nano-ZrO2 by hydrothermal method

Nano-ZrO2 was synthesized by hydrothermal method using NaBH4 and ZrOCl2·8H2O as raw materials. The effects of hydrothermal medium and reaction time on morphology of ZrO2 were investigated. The microstructure and crystal form were studied by XRD and SEM. The results indicated that nano-ZrO2 particles were spherical and the average diameter was 10 nm using 90% ethanol as hydrothermal medium, the spherical nano-ZrO2 particles with well dispersation were prepared using H2O as medium, polyethylene glycol(PEG) and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) as surfactant. The flake nano-ZrO2 particals, of which the thickness was 20 nm, and the width was 500 nm, were determined with 0.5 mol/L Na2CO3 solution as hydrothermal medium.
