Effect of Mandibular Advancement Device on Quality of Life in Patients with OSAHS

Objective To evaluate the effect of mandibular advancement device(MAD) on quality of life in patients with obstractive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OASHS).MethodsThirty OSAHS patients were treated with MAD and ESS score and Calgary sleep apnea quality of life index(SAQLI) questionnaire were completed before and after MAD insertion.The quality of life was compared in excessive daytime sleepiness(EDS),daily social activity,changes of emotion and symptoms.Results After treated with MAD,the EDS tended descending,SAQLI scores increased [(4.6±0.2) points vs.(5.7±0.3) points](P0.05).The daily social activity,changes of emotion and symptoms were all improved significantly.Conclusion The quality of life in the patients with OSAHS is effectively improved after treated with MAD.
