249: Adverse Impact of Initial Massive Blood Transfusion in Patients With Severe Polytrauma

The adverse impact of blood transfusion, especially massive transfusion, on outcome is still an unsettled issue and there is little clinical data regarding the effect of transfusion on the neurological outcome in trauma patients. We sought to determine the risk of mortality, development of acute respiratory distress syndrome, and deteriorated neurological outcome following transfusion of blood products in severely injured patients.
