Integrated approach to urban facilities maintenance and alarm management

An integrated approach to the development of a computer system for urban facilities maintenance is proposed. In this paper rye consider every-day operations and alarm management for gas-, heat-, water-supply and sewage urban networks. Growth of towns results in the necessity for computer-aided processing of the geographical and attributive information, facilities networks simulations and simulation results analysis, real-time process monitoring. These tasks are suggested as the main ones for urban computer systems We present our point of view on each of these tasks separately and discuss various scenarios of the tasks using results. As a result of discussion the structure of complicated computer system combining GIS, SCADA, CAD and DBMS features is proposed The variant of a PC-based system which applies the principles of integration is described The ideas and software and hardware features. we suggest, are of interest to both engineers and managers in the urban facilities domain.
