Squamous Cell Carcinoma Arising in a Human Amnion Neovagina

A 50-year-old woman had cervical and vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia and developed invasive squamous cell carcinoma of first the cervix and then the vagina. Her treatment included total colpectomy, and a neovagina was fashioned from human amnion. Eight years after her initial presentation and 3 years after the formation of the neovagina, she developed invasive carcinoma of the squamous epithelium lining the neovagina. There were also in situ neoplasia in the neovagina and metastatic carcinoma in a paravesical lymph node.
