摘要
Salmonellosis is a potentially devastating disease in human beings and animals, and accurate diagnosis requires proper sample submission and testing methods. Although the methods used for bacteriologic testing vary between laboratories, most laboratories have the capability to perform routine culture for Salmonella from animal samples. Because of differences in methodology, differences in the sensitivity of the tests and, hence, the accuracy of the results, should be expected. Some of the different methods for Salmonella isolation, identification, and differentiation are described as well as proper sample collection and handling.
