The Use of Fluorescein for Identification and Preservation of the Facial Nerve and Semicircular Canals for Safe Mastoidectomy

Introduction: Since its introduction, mastoidectomy has undergone many modifications in the technique itself and in the degree of removal of different structures of the inner and middle ear. We describe here a novel technique to drill the mastoid that allows the surgeon to recognize and avoid injuries to vital structures.
