Karyomorphological study of Leucojum aestivum (Amaryllidaceae) in Bulgaria

Twenty-seven populations of Leucojum aestivum in Bulgaria were investigated karyologically as part of a broad biotechnological study. Karyotype analysis is a reliable background for subsequent studies of the experimentally obtained explants. All studied populations had chromosome number 2n = 22. The morphometric and statistical analyses revealed that the karyotype morphology of all populations was constant, with the exception of one telocentric pair which often showed minor length polymorphism in the long arm.
