Berberine reduces insulin resistance induced by dexamethasone in theca cells in vitro.
FERTILITY AND STERILITY(2011)
Abstract
Theca cells with dexamethasone-induced insulin resistance showed defective glucose uptake and excessive testosterone production, both of which were effectively antagonized by berberine. Therefore, insulin-resistant theca cells may contribute to the pathogenesis of hyperandrogenism in polycystic ovary syndrome. (Fertil Steril (R) 2011; 95:461-3.
