Attic Refurbishment at the Grand Theatre of Bordeaux into a Ballet Rehearsal Room

In order to plan the National Orchestra of Bordeaux-Aquitaine's ballet rehearsals in the attic above the Grand Theatre of Bordeaux and to allow musical performances in the main hall at the same time, technical solutions which guarantee good acoustic results regarding noise and vibration requirements were provided. The attic, which had been used as premises to paint backdrops (its former name was "salle des peintres"), is located just over the dome which constitutes the main hall ceiling above the audience area. Its beautiful wooden framework shows an architectural quality which has to be preserved. As a matter of fact, it is important to take the following points into account: the attic floor, the way in which the big chandelier is suspended, likewise the historical architecture of the two rooms must be respected, because the Opera House of Bordeaux is a listed building.
